Route description
The starting point is the village of Illgau, where the path crosses the Bettbach straight away. The climb begins at once and continues until kilometre 5.2; the steepest passage is 25 per cent at kilometre 0.5.
Via Bergli, Endiberg, the Tauisberg, the Kessleren and the Zingelberg the route gains height steadily. The path crosses the Mettelbach at kilometre 2.0 and leads through the Hinderist Tobel and the Isentobel.
At kilometre 4.8 the Skihaus Sternenegg invites you to a break, the only refreshment stop recorded. At kilometre 5.2 the highest point of the loop is reached at 1,517 metres.
The way back leads through the Hasentobel and crosses the Hasentobelbach at kilometre 6.3. Via Ober Hasen and Unter Zimmerstalden the loop closes back at the starting point. Some sections require a sure step and sturdy footwear. The route crosses the municipal boundary from Illgau into Schwyz and can be walked from May to October.
