Route description
The starting point is the Waldisee at the head of the Bisistal, where the path crosses the Ruosalper Bach at kilometre 0.3. The climb begins at once and continues until kilometre 5.6.
Via the Tor at kilometre 3.3 the route gains height steadily; the steepest passage is 29 per cent at kilometre 4.5. At kilometre 5.1 the path crosses the Ruosalper Chulm, from where the view opens into the Schächental and the Schilttal.
At kilometre 5.6 the highest point of the loop is reached at 2,280 metres, after which the path leads back into the Bisistal. The elevation range is 874 metres.
Several sections require a sure step, a head for heights and sturdy footwear, and the almost 900 metres of ascent call for good fitness. No refreshment stop is recorded along the route, so plenty of provisions and water belong in the rucksack. Because of the altitude the loop can be walked from June to October. It crosses the cantonal border from Muotathal into Unterschächen.
