Route description
The starting point is the Gersau boat landing on Lake Lucerne. The climb begins after just 200 metres and continues until kilometre 3.8; the steepest passage lies at kilometre 1.4 and reaches around 35 per cent.
Via the Totenlauizug, the Unter Föhnenberg and the Föhnenberg the route climbs and passes the Plattenzug and the Geisstal. At kilometre 3.6 the highest point of the loop is reached at 1,052 metres.
The way back leads down via the Buchgrindeln, the Ober and Unter Rotzingel and the Mätzistobel. On the way the path crosses the Röhrlisbach, the Teuffibach and the Innerer Dorfbach.
The elevation range is 618 metres. Several sections require a sure step and sturdy footwear, and the steep climb calls for good basic fitness. No refreshment stop is recorded along the route. The loop can be walked from April to October.
