610 metres of ascent in three and a half kilometres: this compact loop starts in Gersau at 435 metres, right on Lake Lucerne, and climbs to 1,053 metres. Seven kilometres, three hours and a passage with a 35 per cent gradient.

Route description

The starting point is Gersau at the boat landing. The climb begins after just 200 metres and continues until kilometre 3.7, without any flat stretch worth mentioning.

Via the Totenlauizug the path climbs; the steepest passage lies at kilometre 1.4 and reaches around 35 per cent. At kilometre 2.3 the Unter Föhnenberg is reached, at kilometre 2.8 the Föhnenberg.

After the Plattenzug and the Geisstal, the highest point of the loop lies at kilometre 3.6 at 1,053 metres. The way back leads down to the lakeshore and crosses the Innerer Dorfbach at kilometre 5.8.

The elevation range is 619 metres. Several sections require a sure step and sturdy footwear, and the steep climb calls for good basic fitness. No refreshment stop is recorded along the route. The loop can be walked from April to November.
