Route description

The starting point is Rigi Kulm, which is also the highest point of the route. From here it is downhill all the way; at kilometre 1 the path passes Rigi Staffel.

The path continues to descend and, after the Dorfbach, reaches the Seebodenalp at kilometre 4.4 at 1,026 metres. There are 743 metres between the highest and lowest points, a considerable drop for a mere four and a half kilometres.

Some sections call for a sure step; sturdy footwear is part of the kit. Walking poles are a sensible aid with a height difference like this.

Inns line the route: the Rigi Kulm Hotel and the Restaurant Kessiboden at the start, the Restaurant Bahnhöfli at Rigi Staffel and the Hotel Rigi-Seebodenalp at the finish. The tour is recommended from June to October.
