The big loop from Sattel over the Wildspitz
20.3 kilometres, 965 metres of ascent and six and a half hours: this big loop from Sattel climbs to 1,577 metres and returns in a wide sweep. The climb is demanding, with 714 metres of ascent in one go, but it is spread over a good five kilometres.

Route description
The starting point is Sattel at the Schornen at 750 metres. After two kilometres the path crosses the Änderenbach and at first climbs gently. From kilometre 3.5 the real ascent of 714 metres begins and continues via the Schäfboden and the Widenbach until kilometre 9.1.
At kilometre 8.8 the highest point is reached at 1,577 metres, high above the Hürital. The steepest passage lies at kilometre 7.7 and reaches around 23 per cent.
The long way back leads through the Chessel, crosses the Hüribach and the Nasbach and passes via Chällermatt, Naas and Neselen back to the starting point. There are 853 metres between the lowest and highest points.
Some sections require a sure step and sturdy footwear. On the way the Alpwirtschaft Halsegg at kilometre 11.3 invites you to a break; otherwise no refreshment stop is recorded. The tour is recommended from May to October.
