Route description

The starting point is Brunnen station, which makes getting there particularly easy. The path crosses the Muota at kilometre 0.8; the climb of 668 metres begins from kilometre 0.3.

The steepest passage lies at kilometre 2.4 and reaches around 48 per cent, one of the highest figures in the whole collection. At kilometre 3.1 the Timpel is reached, and at kilometre 3.3 the highest point of the loop at 1,136 metres.

That is where the Bergrestaurant Timpelweid stands, the only refreshment stop recorded. The way back leads down via the Mittler Brunniberg and the Teuffi to Brunnen.

Some sections make considerably higher demands than an ordinary mountain hike. Alpine experience, a sure step, an absolute head for heights and a reliable sense of direction are essential. The elevation range is 700 metres; the loop can be walked from March to November.
