729 metres of ascent in one go and a passage with a 49 per cent gradient: this loop from the car-free mountain village of Stoos is among the steepest climbs in the collection. 9.8 kilometres, four hours and a highest point at 1,920 metres.

Route description

The starting point is Stoos at 1,276 metres. From kilometre 0.8 the climb begins and does not let up until kilometre 5.2. On the way the path runs above the Frontal and along a series of ravines, among them the Summerlaui, the Schorestobel and the Wissenfluetobel.

The steepest passage lies at kilometre 2.4 and reaches around 49 per cent, a figure that few tours in the region exceed. At kilometre 5.3 the highest point is reached at 1,920 metres, high above the Riemenstalden valley.

At kilometre 6.5 the path crosses the Furggelen saddle, then descends via the Läckitobel back to the mountain village. The elevation range is 753 metres.

Several sections require a sure step and sturdy footwear, especially on the steep climb. No refreshment stop is recorded along the route, but food and drink are available in the mountain village of Stoos at the start and finish. The tour is recommended from April to October.
