487 metres of ascent over 6.6 kilometres: this climb leads from Illgau at 811 metres up to 1,197 metres and on to the top station. Two and a half hours with two climbs that divide up well.

Route description

The starting point is Illgau, where the path crosses the Bettbach straight away. The climb begins at once and gains around 247 metres by kilometre 1.6; the steepest passage is 20 per cent at kilometre 0.3.

Wart is reached at kilometre 1.5. From kilometre 1.8 the second climb follows with 133 metres of ascent, and at kilometre 3.3 the path runs through the Chlingentobel.

At kilometre 3.5 the highest point of the route is reached at 1,197 metres. The hike ends at Steinweid at 1,178 metres; the elevation range is 386 metres.

Technically the path is straightforward; sturdy footwear is enough. For the descent, the cable car from St. Karl is available. No refreshment stop is recorded along the route, but food and drink are available in Illgau. The tour can be walked from May to October.
