Route description

The starting point is the Johannisbächli south of the monastery square. The climb begins at once and gains around 189 metres by kilometre 1.8; the steepest section is 14 per cent at kilometre 0.5.

At kilometre 1.8 the highest point of the loop is reached at 1,090 metres. From there the path leads through the forest above Einsiedeln back to the starting point.

The elevation range is 193 metres; the lowest point lies at the start. Technically the hike makes no particular demands.

Given its short distance, the loop suits an afternoon or makes a good addition to a visit to the monastery village. It can be walked from March to November. Food and drink are available in Einsiedeln.
