A short hillside loop from Einsiedeln abbey square
Four kilometres, an hour and a half and 207 metres of ascent: this compact loop starts at the tourist office on the monastery square in Einsiedeln at 892 metres and climbs to 1,090 metres. A good way to see the monastery village from above.

Route description
The starting point is the tourist office by the monastery square in Einsiedeln. The climb begins at once and gains around 194 metres by kilometre 2.1.
At kilometre 1.0 the path passes St. Benedikt; the steepest section is 14 per cent at kilometre 1.3. At kilometre 2.1 the highest point of the loop is reached at 1,090 metres.
The way back descends to the monastery square. The elevation range is 198 metres; the lowest point lies at 892 metres.
Technically the hike makes no particular demands and is therefore suitable for families too. It can be walked from March to November. Food and drink are available in Einsiedeln at the start and finish.
