Up the Grosser Mythen from Brunni
The Grosser Mythen is the landmark of the region and can comfortably be done in half a day from Brunni. The cable car takes care of the first part; from the Holzegg it is around 490 metres of ascent to the 1,890-metre summit. A tour for anyone who is sure-footed and wants to reach the best-known viewpoint of the Schwyz basin under their own steam.

Route description
The starting point is Brunni in the Alptal at 1,099 metres. From there the Brunni–Holzegg cable car floats up to the Holzegg at 1,402 metres, where the real climb begins after around 1.5 kilometres. The path leads via Gross Rank and the Totenplangg into the summit structure and reaches the main summit of the Grosser Mythen at kilometre 3.3 at 1,890 metres. The return is by the same path to the Holzegg.
Between the Holzegg and the summit there are around 490 metres of ascent, and they come concentrated: the steepest passage lies at kilometre 2.5 with a gradient of around 37 per cent. The path thus gains a great deal of height over a short distance, which makes the climb strenuous but never dull.
The summit path requires a sure step and sturdy footwear. In wet conditions, snow or when thunderstorms threaten, particular care is needed. The tour is recommended from May to October.
There are two options for a break: the Berggasthaus Holzegg at kilometre 1.5 at the foot of the climb and the Restaurant Grosser Mythen right by the summit. The tour crosses the municipal boundary from Alpthal into Schwyz.
