Route description
The starting point is Rothenthurm, reached at the station or in the village. The path crosses the Dorfbach at kilometre 0.3; the 306-metre climb begins from kilometre 0.1.
The steepest section is 14 per cent at kilometre 1.1. At kilometre 3.2 the highest point of the loop is reached at 1,231 metres.
Shortly afterwards, at kilometre 3.5, the view opens into the Alptal, where the path crosses the Schläukbach. The route then descends back to Rothenthurm.
Some sections require a sure step and sturdy footwear, and the continuous climb calls for a certain fitness. No refreshment stop is recorded along the route, but food and drink are available in Rothenthurm. The loop can be walked from May to October.
