Alpamare Pfäffikon: day pass for the water park

The Alpamare has stood on upper Lake Zurich since 1977. Twelve slides, a wave pool, a hundred-metre outdoor lazy river and a warm brine pool make it the largest water park in Switzerland. It is open 365 days a year.

What to expect

The twelve slides total 2,100 metres. The longest is the Balla Balla at 261 metres, where you shoot out of a dark tube into an open half-pipe. The Jungle Run is a two-lane racing slide with timing and the only one restricted to ages eight and over. Then there are the Thriller in its tube of light, the Tornado with its funnel, the IceXpress with eleven bends and several bob and tyre slides, seven of which can be ridden together with a child.

If you would rather stay in the water, there is the wave pool at 30 degrees, the Alpa Therme at 32 degrees with massage jets, the Rio Mare, a hundred-metre outdoor lazy river with views of the lake, and the brine pool at 36 degrees, reserved for guests aged 16 and over. The youngest have their own area with paddling pools, mini slides and water games.

The Alpamare opened on 14 June 1977 and celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in 2027. In autumn 2026 work is under way on the ceiling. Some slides are therefore closed at times, the pools stay open, and guests receive a free ticket for a second visit on admission.

Getting there and meeting point

Pfäffikon SZ station is on the Zurich S-Bahn and the Voralpen-Express. From the station, bus 195 runs to the Seedamm-Center stop, from where it is a few steps. On Sundays bus 524 runs instead to the Schweizerhof stop. By car, take the Pfäffikon SZ exit on the A3; there is free parking in front of the entrance.

Good to know

The slides open at 10 am and close a quarter of an hour before closing time. Apart from the Jungle Run there are no age or height limits. Children aged twelve and over may enter without an adult. The lockers open with the admission wristband, so you need no coins. Your own food is not allowed in the building, but in fine weather you may picnic on the lawn. The entrance is step-free, and steps with handrails lead into the pools. According to the baths, evenings and weekdays are quietest.

Tip: The contrast is finest in winter: lying outdoors in the 36-degree brine pool while fog hangs over the lake.
