From Kräbel over the Rotstock to Rigi Kaltbad
1,060 metres of ascent in 9.7 kilometres: this route leads from Kräbel at 762 metres over the Rotstock up to Rigi Kaltbad. The main climb stretches over the first four and a half kilometres, followed by two shorter pushes.

Route description
The starting point is Kräbel, the valley station of the Scheidegg railway. The climb begins at once and gains around 705 metres by kilometre 4.4. On the way the path crosses the Rigiaa at kilometre 1.1 and passes Dächli at kilometre 1.5, where the mountain inn of the same name invites you to a break.
After a stretch in between, another 79 metres of ascent follow from kilometre 6.1 and a further 190 from kilometre 7.4, leading via First to the highest point at kilometre 8.8 at 1,657 metres. Shortly afterwards the path passes the Rotstock.
The hike ends at Rigi Kaltbad at 1,550 metres, where the Kräuterhotel Edelweiss invites you to a break. The elevation range is 897 metres; the steepest passage is 26 per cent at kilometre 1.4.
Some sections require a sure step and sturdy footwear. Because of the altitude the tour can be walked from June to October. The railway from Rigi Kaltbad is available for the descent.
